The band’s highest chart debut to date, was their album “The Silver Scream” released in October 2018, which in the first week sold nearly 20,000 copies. In the following year, Ice Nine Kills released their second EP, entitled “The Predator”, which peaked in 9 th place on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Ice Nine Kills released their second album, entitled “Safe Is Just a Shadow” in 2010, and two years later, the band was the opening act for The All Stars Tour featuring Attila, The Word Alive, Suicide Silence, and Dance Gavin Dance, among others.

In 2007, the group released the extended play (EP) “The Burning” and began touring. In 2004, the band changed its name to ‘Ice Nine Kills’, and two years later, they released their debut album “Last Chance to Make Amends”. Later, Grant Newsted, a drummer, and Hobie Boeschentei, a bassist, joined Spencer and Jeremy, and this was the band’s first set. In 2000, they formed the band Ice Nine, the name derived from the fictional substance ‘ice nine’ featured in the novel “Cat’s Cradle” written by Kurt Vonnegut. While he was in the Tower School, Spencer met his future co-founding bandmate, Jeremy Shwartz, who also had an interest in horror movies. Speaking of his educational background, he attended schools in his hometown, the Tower School and then Swampscott High School, from which he matriculated in 2003, then Spencer enrolled at Suffolk University, from where he obtained his BA degree. Spencer had an interest in horror movies from an early age, and his other passion was musical theater, which had an impact on most of his band’s songs. He hasn’t spoken about his siblings, thus many of his fans believe that he is an only child. Raised by his parents, Spencer spent most of his childhood in his birth town.
